Summary | Freight transport accounts for around 8 % of global greenhouse gas emissions.  It has been identified as one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonise mainly because of the steep growth in freight traffic and heavy dependence on fossil fuels. This talk will examine the numerous options for achieving deep reductions in freight-related emissions. They will be assessed within a “green logistics” framework and comprise supply chain restructuring, freight modal shift, improved asset and energy utilisation and a switch to lower-carbon energy sources.
